Mathias Schabow entpuppt sich durchgängig als lyrisch beeinflusster Pianist der Bill-Evans-Schule. Dichtes, interaktives Agieren, dominiert vom differenzierten Anschlag und den variationsreichen Klangfarben des Mannes an den Tasten, kennzeichnet die selbst komponierte Musik. Schabow vermag extrem melodische Linien auf einem gewissermaßen schwebenden rhythmischen Hintergrund zu kreieren, die viel Raum zum Atmen lassen, in der Artikulation jedoch sehr pointiert, präzise und logisch erscheinen. Es ist eine ruhige, dezidierte Art, mit Musik umzugehen, ohne Stress, aber trotzdem sehr aussagekräftig."
